BABIES
Our
Parent & Me classes are divided by age and/or ability. These lessons
are a mixture of play and learning. We incorporate the latest information
on child development. We commence classes at three months.
These groups are scheduled Saturday and Sunday mornings so the Dads
can participate.
We work towards two main goals - for children to be able to float -
this is best taught under twelve months before they are mobile! Our
second goal is for the children to be able to come off the side of the
pool and return to the side unaided.
We work towards this by moving the babies independently between the
teacher and the parent.
LESSONS
Our lessons are scheduled Monday - Friday after school hours and Saturday
and Sunday mornings.
We have ten lesson levels. Commencing with Beginning Beginners - no
experience - up to Junior Squad where swimmers can perform all four
strokes and turns with correct technique and can swim at least 400m.
freestyle. Our first six levels have a maximum of four swimmers per class.
Our top two lesson levels are preliminary Squad groups.
Our lessons are goal driven. Each group has a
specific goal, which, when completed, will qualify the swimmer for the next
level. Swimmers can move to the next level at any time.
There are certif icates for each level and four extra certificates for
additional skills.
We use swimming aids
for the first five groups. We believe this assists children to learn
with confidence and to participate for the whole lesson - no waiting
on the side for their turn!
We use flippers for a variety of reasons - to get nervous beginners
moving, to develope an efficient kick, to assist in perfecting drills
and as a valuable training tool.
We are technique orientated - our swimmers are taught the same technique
as Olympic swimmers!
All classes have lesson plans and this allows any teacher to fill in
and teach any class without disruption to the swimmers.
SQUAD

Swimmers qualify for Intermediate
and Senior Squads and may be invited to join two additional squads.
Since we have high standards for our Squad qualification, swimmers who
show promise and are still in lessons may be invited to swim with the
Fast Track Squad or Development Squad in addition to their lesson. Swimmers
who are committed to swimming as a sport and train a minimum of three
sessions per week qualify for our "Dynamic Dolphins" squad.
SEGREGATED CLASSES
We provide segregated classes. Monday evenings from 7pm we have groups
for boys and men. Tuesdays from 6.30pm and Wednesdays from 6 pm we provide
classes for girls and women.
INTENSIVE HOLIDAY PROGRAMS
During the Holidays we offer Intensive programs where swimmers comes
each day (Monday - Friday), for one or two weeks. This is a great way
to "jump start" beginners and works well for fearful children
or those stuck at a level.
